Wedding Gift for Parents of the Bride & Groom
While it’s not exactly their special day, both the parents of the bride and groom deserve some special attention for having done the most challenging part of getting to the wedding day–raising the couple from birth to adulthood and shaping them into the people they have become. Gifts for the parents don’t have to be expensive or even fancy; a well thought out gift will do wonderfully. Here are some ideas to consider giving to the parents of the happy couple.
Photos, Scrapbooks or Frames
You can make this as simple or elaborate as you like. If you are the artistic type, you might enjoy making a scrapbook full of childhood and recent photos of the couple. For those who aren’t so crafty, a nice silver or crystal picture frame will be a nice addition to the parent’s home. You can even get the wedding date engraved or etched for a personalized touch. Other ideas include making a collage to put in a larger frame or using online photo sites to make personalized photo books.
Personalized CD
This will require a bit of time to put together but is a great gift for music lovers. Purchase single tracks of songs that the parent’s really like or that have special meanings behind them, and burn them to a CD. Don’t forget to include songs from the band solos or musicals that the couple participated in during their youth.
Gift Cards
You really can’t go wrong with giving these unless you get gift cards to places that they absolutely hate. For moms a spa treatment or pedicure would be appropriate. Dads might like a round of golf or opening night at the cinema. You might also include a gift card for a restaurant so they can enjoy a nice meal together.
Gift Baskets
Wine and cheese; chocolate and coffee; movies and popcorn–gift baskets come in an amazing number of ways and you are sure to find one that suits the parents of the couple. Or try your hand at making one yourself if you know of some of their favourite items like that gourmet coffee that her mom drinks or the micro-brewed beer dad likes.
Don’t spend a lot of time stressing over the gift. As long as it’s something that you feel others would like to receive, you are good to go. Package it up appropriately, add a little card and give it to the proud parents.
